Project 2010:365 August Image of the Month

The hat, those chubby cheeks...

Project 2010:365 August 26-August 31

The end of the week and into the weekend started off with a baking frenzy! I made one item every day, in hopes of filling my freezer with deliciousness!

aug:31 This little guy hung out with me while I was working outside

aug:30 Why in the world a cat would want to share a water bowl with a bulldog is beyond me, but here they are! This happens often.

aug:29 Strawberry Ice Cream Sandwiches!!

aug:28 Today I made these super simple chocolate sugar cookies and some strawberry ice cream using strawberries that I had froze back when they were in season. This was all pre-prep for tomorrow when I made...wait for it...

aug:27 Peach bars - with in-season COLORADO PEACHES!

Project 2010:365 August 23-25

aug:25 Farmer's Alliance, week 16 - summer squash, hot peppers, sweet peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, melon. Only a few weeks left!

aug:24 It's ready! Our very first tomato, grown from scratch!

Project 2010:365 August 19-22

There's probably going to be a lot of photos in the upcoming days featuring summer produce as we wind down and say goodbye to it until next year! Despite the excessive rain in the beginning and the extreme hot and dry the rest of the time, I definitely enjoyed my first season paying attention to what I was eating in the summer!

aug:22 Pears from our Farmer's Alliance. I didn't know our conditions were suitable for growing pears!

aug:21 Hello there. I think I'll stand back here as I take your photo!

aug:20 I've been watching this tomato as it has grown, it's almost ready!

aug:19 That piece of watermelon sure was a lot of work to eat!

Project 2010:365 August 16-18

aug:18 Since making our porch garden, we've met some new friends.

aug:17 'I'm hot. And bored.'

aug:15 A photo from Miss Lauren's 6 month shoot. I am in love with this image!

aug:14 Ok, seriously, this is perhaps my favorite thing I've eaten all summer. These were so good and so sweet! We ate them plain, with salads, and I roasted some in the oven with garlic, balsamic, and olive oil to put on chicken, bruschetta, toss with pasta...

aug:13 We had a gorgeous lightning storm!

aug:12 Are you in the KC area? Head on out to Art Unleashed on Friday Aug. 27th, and bid on my print!

aug:11 Week 14 of our Farmer's Alliance - Okra (which I have discovered that I DON'T like!), summer squash, melons, cherry tomatoes, hot peppers, blackberries

aug:10 Time to head back to KC! I thought it was hot in Iowa, the temp read 82 when I left, by the time I hit KC, the temp read this! Blech!

aug:9 This is my sister's dog, Cody. She's a sweet girl!

Project 2010:365 August 2-8

Whew!  I am still trying to catch up!  I went to my home state of Iowa to see my family, including my ridiculously cute 5-year-old nephew.  Sooooo...most of this post is going to be all about him!

aug:8  This kid could hula-hoop all day long!  Not his Aunt, however.

aug:7  That's cotton candy ice cream (that had gummy bears in it) all over his chin.

aug:6  New haircut!

aug:5  We went to one of those 'paint-your-own-ceramics' places and he painted an airplane!

aug:4  This ice cream was almost as big as he was!  He paused for just a moment to ham it up for the camera

aug:3  Drawing...he looks like he's a lefty, just like his Aunt!

aug:2  This is 'Orange Cat'.  No, really, that's the name that stuck when my parents adopted him!
