Fall Festivals!

I absolutely love this time of year! After a long, hot summer, the fresh crisp air feels so nice and the changing colors are so pretty! It's also a season full of activities! This weekend, my husband and I visited 3 festivals around town. First stop was the Plaza Art Fair held at the Country Club Plaza in KC. We actually volunteered here for a few hours, then walked around to enjoy the artists.

Next up, the Cider Festival held at the Louisburg Cider Mill in Louisburg, KS. We watched some cider being made, visited the crafts booths, and had some delicious hot spiced apple cider and fresh cider doughnuts.

And to round out the weekend, a trip to the Overland Park Farmer's Market and the Overland Park Fall Festival in Overland Park, KS. A friend of mine and fellow Etsyer, Ni-Chern Designs had a booth set up, so we wanted to say 'hi' to her, and to have a look around.

Whew! What a weekend! Next weekend? The American Royal BBQ Competition! Did I mention that I love fall? Have a great rest of the weekend, and get out and enjoy the weather!

Saturday Morning Etsy Treasury!

This 'In Motion' treasury was put together by talis, and features my 'Abstract Motion' photo. I found this one particularly interesting, because of the many interpretations of motion. Check out all of the great shops featured in this one!

It's Friday Finds!

Welcome to this week's Friday Finds! This week, I was actually given a piece by the featured artist. My 32nd (eeek, I really have to stop saying that out loud!) birthday was Wednesday. My sister gave me this fabulous piece handmade by Red Crow Arts. She knows how much I support the efforts of Etsy artists, so she scoured Etsy for 2 days to find the perfect gift for me. She came across Red Crow Arts, and found the perfect vase! It is fantastic! The photo above was taken by me, it is the actual vase received, displayed in my home! Please check out her shop for many more items, including raku, painted potter, pendants, and much more!

Friday Morning Etsy Treasury!

This very special 'pay it forward' treasury is from patk860 and it features artists who are giving back to help animals. It makes me very happy to know that there are so many artists out trying to make a difference in an animals life, and I'm very excited to be included in the group of artists in this treasury! Please check out each of their shops!

Johnson County Old Settlers Festival

This weekend, my husband and I paid a visit to the Johnson County Old Settlers festival held in our town of Olathe, KS. We are on a mission to check out as many local events as we can. The event gets our support, and we have a ton of fun! It's really a win/win if you ask me! Last week was the LEGO exhibit at Crown Center in downtown KC, this week Old Settlers. Next week...well I'll have to check a calendar to see what's going on! I had a lot of fun with my camera and all of the lights...enjoy the photos!

Friday Finds!

Today's feature is Chalk Chalk. He draws these wonderful 'human-powered' means of transportation on chalk boards (handcrafted chalkboards I might add!) and sells them as prints or you can also buy the original chalkboard! I can see these hung as multiples in a hip baby nursery, or a kitchen, or a work studio...endless possibilities! Check out his shop to learn more!

'The Art of the Brick' LEGO Exhibit

My husband and I took a trip downtown to catch this really cool exhibit before it left town. It's called 'The Art of the Brick' by artist Nathan Sawaya. He uses only LEGOS. Pretty cool stuff!
